Competition: Architectural Competition · 2024
Architectural competition project developed as a proposal for the design of the Memorial Center in Mojkovac.
Concept
The proposed Memorial Center fully embraces the uniqueness and potential of its location, establishing a clear dialogue with the surrounding landscape and the collective memory of the city. The project aims to create a new destination that presents the story of the Battle of Mojkovac through a contemporary architectural and experiential approach.
The center is conceived as a dialogue between past and future, combining nature, technology, and human experience within a unified narrative. Functionally, the building is organized into two main elements: an integrated reception pavilion containing the supporting facilities, and an exhibition pavilion that appears to float above the existing landscape.
The exhibition experience combines physical artefacts, digital technologies, and the natural environment to create an immersive and interactive interpretation of the battle and its historical context. The narrative unfolds through movement within a circular exhibition space, developed in collaboration with historians, curators, and artists.
Advanced technologies, including immersive environments and interactive visualizations, transform the center into a contemporary infotainment space and a place of expanded encounters between the physical and digital worlds.
Through its architecture, landscape design, material selection, and sustainable strategies, the Memorial Center seeks to create a distinctive, environmentally responsive destination that preserves historical memory while engaging future generations.
